Café Fríða

Lovely cosy cafe with delicious coffee and tempting treats in a relaxing environment

Café Fríða is more than a café, it is a food experience and a storytelling café, where guest will feel the culture of the Northern Faroe Islands.

The café is named after the first ship built by the Faroese people. It was pioneer Nólsoyar Páll that had Royndin Fríða built, 250 years ago, Royndin Fríða was built illegally and in hiding. Today it is recognized to have had great significance for the faroese people.

The café is located in Biskupstorg in the centre of Klaksvík, at the bottom of the bay of the town. This is where Royndin Fríða laid dock in between trips to Europe.

Near Biskupstorg is where Nólsoyar Páll built his home and his boathouses. These are now being rebuilt and restored as museums and monuments.

The café is run by a team of younger and older men and women. The staff is friendly, well trained and if possible always willing to chat and share local stories with guests.

Café Fríða welcomed its first guests the 1st of March 2014.
