Come to Miðlatún on December 12th at 8:00 PM for an enjoyable evening with an interesting conversation about the life of Gunnar Hjelm.

The author will present the book and describe Gunnar Hjelm as an athlete—a tough boy with big dreams. His father was strict, and his mother fled to Denmark, with Gunnar following shortly after.

In Denmark, Gunnar quickly found his way into a sport that few in the Faroe Islands knew about—bodybuilding. He was jokingly called the "monkey man" in the Faroes, but he embraced the role and trained hard, winning the Danish championship titles in 1990 and 1995. Those were the best years of his life.

Gunnar built a family, and everything seemed to be going well, so they moved back to the Faroe Islands. But then things began to take a turn for the worse, and the storms of life started to take their toll on him.

He fell out of shape and gained weight, but with persistence and determination, he got back on track. The future once again seemed bright, but then yet another dark cloud passed over their lives. They had two sick children and lost one of them.
