Faroese young adult books are rare and since Bókadeild Føroya Lærarafelags has published two Faroese YA novels this year there is going to be a shared event for the two books in this year’s annual book event in The Nordic House.
Eyð Steinbjørnsdóttir and Sanna A. Dahl interview authors Marjun Syderbø Kjelnæs and Rakel Helmsdal about their novels.
The title of Marjun Syderbø Kjelnæs’ novel is called Sum rótskot and it revolves around four friends who share the same concerns about environmental issues. This is also a story about friendship, love, illness and gender identity.
Rakel Helmsdal’s novel called Kjarr is about the young woman Laura who finds a skeleton. As Laura tries to uncover the identity of the skeleton she also learns more about herself. The novel is innovative in both theme and structure and has a wide artistic horizon. Kathrina Skarðsá has illustrated the book.
The event is a collaboration between Bókadeild Føroya Lærarafelags and The Nordic House.
Notice of attendance is required to all events due to COVID-19.
